Telescopes of the 21st Century: From Hardware and Software to Data and Results

Modern astronomical instruments — telescopes — look far different than they did hundreds or even decades ago. Observational data are rapidly increasing in volume and acquisition speed, and the reaction times required are decreasing — creating new demands on processing systems. Both astronomical problems requiring ever-increasing telescope capabilities and approaches to solving emerging problems with concrete examples will be given.
